Bairns Trust Meeting
17th May 2010 at Falkirk Stadium
1) Welcome/Opening Remarks
Chairman Steven Jackson gave thanks to all who helped over the past year following last months AGM. The new committee has been formed but there are still vacancies and help is needed on matchdays from anyone willing to volunteer their time.
3) Minutes of previous meeting

4) Matters Arising
Non-member Mr J. Campbell notified the meeting that a letter had been sent to BairnsTrust, Falkirk Herald, and Martin Ritchie regarding his disapproval of season ticket pricing for season 2010/11. He feels fans are being taken advantage of, particularly with prime seat pricing where it would be cheaper to pay at the gate every week than buy a season ticket! It was agreed that south stand pricing was reasonable but Brian Guthrie was to ask at board level about other prices. On a secondary point raised by Mr Campbell, BairnsTrust would not consider withdrawing from the FFC Board as it has taken many years to gain this position and the input BT has is invaluable.
5) Secretary’s Report
Letter Correspondence: FSA letter received, A30 form required to be filled in and returned – Treasurer to complete. Share Certificate received for Brian Robertson – to be passed on. Letter of thanks received from Camphill Blair Drummond charity for people with autism/learning difficulties for donation of boardroom experience for two – they made £2170 on the night from all fundraising. Supporter’s direct annual conference is being held on Sat 29th May at Stirling University. BT is sending representation as usual. It was noted that BT nominated - Kenneth Elder of ArabTrust had been elected onto the Board of Supporters Direct. A letter had been sent to all five candidates in the Falkirk elections asking their views on supporter representation and whether they would be willing to help BT. Positive responses were received from the SNP and Conservative candidates but unfortunately there was no response from the eventual winner – Labour’s Eric Joyce. Possibly try to contact Mr Joyce again to gain his views on the matter.
6) Treasurer's Report
Peter Jack gave his first report since returning to the post. There is currently £1500 in the bank. 6 share savers still contributing. Treasurer took active role in running three stalls at the final game of the season as well as a goody bag giveaway to reduce old stock. Help greatly appreciated from our International helpers. £30 paid for website hosting for one year. Independent examiner fee paid. Main task over summer is to tidy up the accounts as well as acting as independent examiner for ShireTrust and administering BairnsAid accounts.
Q from floor – What is the current interest received? – Not good! 1p/month.
Q from floor – Former treasurer issues cleared? - No, still ongoing but will keep trying.
Q from floor – Boardroom draw? – Back next season, outstanding charities will be catered for and then normal from September onwards.
7) Social Conveners Report
Social Convener to plan events calendar over summer and report at first meeting next season. Key focus on building the Falkirk family – large photo of a cross section of the Falkirk support, along with players and management in the Falkirk Herald with an application form.
8) Board Report 22nd April 2010
Pressley happy with performances. Plans made for next season. Bloom and McLean offered contracts. Duffie promoted straight from U19’s to first team. FFC cash flow ok but early season ticket sales needed. Special offer for first 500 tickets sold out and provides vital income. Gate went up 1.28% this season, only matched by one other team. Regarding shirt sponsorship – two interested parties and close to a deal. Street Lighting Supplies renewed their North Stand sponsorship. SFA audit passed. Central Scotland Police costs substantially reduced. Outsource of FFC retail – Negotiations ongoing with Provan Sports and another company recommended by BairnsTrust. Protection of community department, now a registered charity, and the learning centre from other Club departments. 18 players plus 3 youths currently signed, targets being looked at. Following discussion with Neil Doncaster - Possible league reconstruction 2011/12 at the earliest with a 14 team SPL – possibly two teams promoted from first division next season.
Q from floor – Do we need to sell Arfield before new signings? – No, but it would help.
Q from floor – Are there clauses in player contracts to drop wages in first division? Dependant on individual players, some yes and some no.
After BairnsTrust raising at board level following fan complaints at the last visit to Aberdeen, a letter of apology has been received from Aberdeen FC stating that they totally agreed that the concrete in the away stand was unacceptable and that it should never have been in that state and they are embarrassed by the situation. They offered an invitation to a pre-match meeting at future games to stop this happening again.
Payment of a small donation to Peter Jack as a thank you for his hard work in tidying the accounts.

10) Date of next meeting
Monday 19th July 2010 at 7.30pm in the Warm-Up Area of Falkirk Stadium.
Due to the holiday season, during the month of June, there will be a meeting of the Committee only.
