This is a
special edition of the electronic update of BairnsTrust activities.
You are cordially invited to attend the combined monthly BairnsTrust meeting in the Warm Up Area of the Falkirk Community Stadium on Monday 15/05/06, KO 7.30pm.
There will be a full agenda for discussion, including another guest speaker, but if you have any concerns you wish to raise, please respond to either firstname.lastname@example.org or post your query on the message board at our website and we will try to cover on the night.
Feel free to convene before or after the meeting in the Amarillo Bar Bistro.
If you are unable to attend, the minutes from the meeting will appear on our website 7-10 days later for your perusal.
Jimmy Black of Drew Norloch Ltd will return as our guest speaker on the night. On a previous occasion, Jimmy promised to return and update BairnsTrust with developments at The Falkirk Stadium. The meeting on Monday is your chance to find out more about Drew Norloch Ltd and put forward suggestions or ask any questions about hospitality/The Amarillo/catering in general.
The speaker at our last monthly meeting was Bert Moorhouse from Glasgow University who is working on behalf of the Scottish Executive following the Summit on Sectarianism. Bert was consulting various groups including supporters to ascertain their views on Sectarianism and after a lively, wide-ranging discussion lasting an hour he thanked BairnsTrust for their contribution to his working remit. He will compile a separate, detailed, minute of the discussion and forward to the Trust.
A correction to BairnsTrust Electronic Newsletter #13 regarding our Quiz Night on Thursday 06/04/06.
The 3 teams that consisted of current players were the victorious League of Nations team of Tiago Rodrigues, Jean Lecsinel, Densill Theobald, Karl Dodd, Pedro Moutinho and new BairnsTrust Committee Member Sandy Monfries, winning by 1 point. Team 2 (Arsenal Rejects) contained Steven O'Donnell, Patrick Cregg, Mark Howard and partner Lucy. Team FFC #1 was George Craig, Liam Craig, Kenny Milne and Keith Hogg.
In the past month we have been in communication this time with Dunfermline FC re the differing turnstyle prices for our fans at the last vist to East End Park on Saturday 15/04/06. We took the opportunity to carbon copy our letter of concern to the SPL and eagerly await their response. Dunfermline has responded and the letter will be read out at Monday's meeting!
Trust members again enjoyed the hospitality of the Dee4 Life Trust at our game v Dundee Utd on Saturday 29/04/06 with the use of one of the former player's lounges at Dens Park. We again thank the Dundee Trust for this. No doubt they enjoyed our victory over The Arabs.
BairnsTrust had sponsored Craig Ireland’s shirt this past season and duly uplifted at the Club's new strip presentation night on Thursday 04/05/06. It will now be framed free of charge by a BairnsTrust member and used at a future date as an auction item to raise funds. We have already showed our intent by securing the sponsorship of a specific player's top for next season. Although this is a significant outlay for the Trust it continues our supply of income to the Club.
The 4th Amarillo Bistro Bar/Brockville Lounge Cabaret Night on Friday 05/05/06 was great fun and featured stand-up comedian/musician Frank Robb and Geordie lass Brenda Collins.
Please see the revamped events section of the Amarillo website for the rest of the year's confirmed itinerary:
We are again financing the Tom Jamieson Memorial Trophy 5-a-side Tournament involving pupils from Carrongrange School. Tom Elliott of Falkirk's Football in the Community Department has to inform us of a suitable date at the stadium before we proceed. The event was well appreciated in its inaugural year of 2005.
Further to the Club's most recent monthly meeting, BairnsTrust Vice Chairman Steven Jackson has now been ratified as our second representative on the Falkirk FC Board for the next two seasons, replacing Bill Anderson after his two year spell and will be working in tandem with Fergus Caldwell.
One of the tasks the Trust were involved in this month was helping to decide the forthcoming season ticket prices. Glad to report that the two areas of concern raised by the Trust have been taken into consideration. Please see the link below for confirmed prices:
The final Trust Social Night to round off the season is on Friday 26/05/06, 7.30pm till late at the Castings Club, featuring Face II Face and one or two acts from “Rising Stars.” Tickets at £10 inc buffet are now on sale from the usual outlets.
A reminder to our Sharesavers who have been contacted regarding the maturity of the 61p/share offer at the end of the month. If you have not already done so, please make your selections from the application pack and return to the Trust Treasurer in the enclosed envelope by Friday 26/05/06. Failure to do so will mean shares thereafter only being available at the new 125p/share price.
Also if any member can advise on the whereabouts of BairnsTrust Member Duncan McPherson, formerly of Newpark Road, St Ninians, Stirling this would be appreciated. He has seemingly moved and not informed the Trust of his new address. We require to contact him urgently.
Following the Scottish Parliament motion debate relating to Supporters Direct in Scotland, previously intimated to you in BairnsTrust Electronic Newsletter #14, four of your Committee are now signed up to the 4th Annual Supporters Direct Scottish Conference which will be held on Sunday 28/05/06 at the Craiglockhart Campus of Napier University in Edinburgh, attending a variety of workshops on the day. The costs of this will be met by the four attendees.
Our colleagues in BairnsAID have rescheduled the U2 Tribute night for Sunday 25/06/06 in the Park Hotel, Falkirk. Visit their website www.nu2.info/home.htm for up to date information. Original tickets are still valid for this new date. Please see members of BairnsAID or you can still purchase tickets at £15 (inc. buffet) from the Steeple Box Office for the rearranged date.
Finally, if you have any topics or articles you wish to be included in future BairnsTrust Electronic Newsletters, please respond by your preferred contact method below.
Look forward to seeing you at the monthly meeting where there will be a chance to win a prize for attendees!
