Newsletter 21

Dear Member,

This is a special edition of the electronic update of BairnsTrust activities.

If you are reading our newsletter for the first time ... welcome to BairnsTrust as a new member! If regular receivers, welcome back to the new season to our renewed members. If you wish to review some of our previous newsletters they can be visited at the following section of the website ...

The Trust take this opportunity to thank you all for joining for the new season and appreciate all those that made a donation to the contingency fund, too many to mention individually, but very much appreciated. It has been assumed that all under 16s that have joined have done so with full parental/guardian consent.

You are cordially invited to attend the monthly BairnsTrust meeting in the Warm Up Area of the Falkirk Community Stadium on Mon 18/09/06, KO 7.30pm, where guest speaker will be club historian Michael White who will give an illustrated talk on Falkirk FC.

Feel free to convene before or after the meeting in the Amarillo Bar Bistro.
There will be a full agenda for discussion, but if you have any concerns you wish to raise, please respond to either or post your query on the message board at our website and we will try to cover on the night.

If you are unable to attend, the minutes from the meeting will appear on our website 7-10 days later for your perusal.
If you know of any others interested in joining please download an Application form for their consideration and completion.

Already noted is an increase in the number supplying an email address, from 47% last season to now standing at 71% of total membership. This is the medium the Trust prefer to keep our membership informed of updates and events.

The workload involved above prompted BairnsTrust to seek another Secretary and glad to announce that at last month's meeting, we co-opted Liz McDaid into the post who will be able to help with the numerous letters we fire out to other clubs with our members concerns as well as compiling the detailed minutes of our monthly meetings.

Such was the response that we also took the opportunity to co-opt young Robert Stirling Jnr onto the Committee who will work in a "BairnsTrust IT Sub-Committee" with special remit towards getting our website back to full operation.

We received a letter regarding the resignation of the current Auditors of BairnsTrust and the matter was duly discussed at our monthly meeting on Mon 21/08/06. The reasons for resignation and the taking of this course of action seem perfectly acceptable and reasonable. Although it was with regret to hear of the firm's decision, it did give BairnsTrust time to seek and appoint another Auditor ahead of our financial year end, for which we are indeed grateful. If any member with an Accountancy background would be interested in becoming involved in the annual audit or if you are able to recommend a local Auditor versed in the Friendly and Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1968 who would be able to take on the work, then any help/advice/input would be appreciated. Please respond by your preferred contact method below.

The BairnsTrust at their Committee meeting on Mon 11/09/06 had another visit from three representatives of the new caterers Alchemy Inns Ltd. This was to confirm the provision of upstairs at Pennies Bar as a reciprocal pre-match hospitality area for Trust members of VISITING fans. BairnsTrust hope to provide a similar deal as we receive at Dundee and accordingly raise good funds from this venture. The invites are away to various newspaper publications in Aberdeen as well as the AFC Trust and Aberdeen FC website for our inaugural event on Sat 16/09/06. If you can't get to the Amarillo, we will be looking for some BairnsTrust members to help this succeed by being in attendance and mingling with like minded individuals of opposition clubs.

LATE NEWS: Reply received from AFC Trust on the evening of Thu 14/09/06 to say that they are sorry (and embarrassed) to inform us that we have not had any response from the Trust membership to our offer of hospitality before this Saturday's game. They did find this surprising as in previous seasons Dee4Life have offered similar hospitality before Aberdeen v Dundee Utd away games and there has been a good response and turn out to them. They are at a complete loss as to why this was not the case for this game. Sure we will receive a good response for our signed shirt raffle as they do believe there is a good number of Dons heading down for the game.

The first of our Boardroom Experience winners takes his place in with the Directors v Aberdeen on Sat 16/09/06. This will be a very busy day for the Trust as we also have the £100 club shop voucher winner being drawn live on the pitch at half-time by former player John Perry. Get your friends and family to join immediately to be included in these draws. Please note that winners will have to be over 16.

In an attempt to raise further funds for BairnsTrust, we are also targeting the Aberdeen fans on Saturday by raffling an Aberdeen FC signed shirt. The draw for this will also take place at half time. An advertising message for their club's Supporter's/Trust websites, match programmes and local newspapers has been sent North and it has appeared briefly earlier in the week on the Aberdeen official website ...

Those who requested one of our new, eagerly awaited, BairnsTrust 2006-07 Polo/T-shirt, samples should be available for viewing at the stall v Aberdeen on Sat 16/09/06.

The sale of current season programmes at the match day stall has gone very well. For the many avid collectors in our membership who don't always make games, we have a small stock of this season's AWAY programmes for sale. These will be sold at cover price to members on production of their membership card, with all funds going to our Contingency Fund. No "keep in reserve" or "advance orders" will be taken, although due to the success this is now being looked at.

Copies of the Dutch pre-season game v t Fean '58 at Surhuisterveen are available. Although originally free, they will be sold at £2 each on a first come, first served basis on production of your membership card. There is also ONE full set of all FOUR Holland friendly programmes. We have decided to auction the set to the highest bidder. Please advise us of your bid by your preferred contact method below. A couple of copies of our 2006-07 SPL away fixtures to date are also available.

Talking of the Dutch pre-season game v t Fean '58, reference was made in the last Match day Programme v Motherwell on Sat 26/08/06 of their website. Please see the following for numerous photos of Falkirk's visit (press Volgende !) : = 25 photos = 82 photos

The Club, in conjunction with BairnsTrust have arranged a small programme fair for aficionados on Sun 24/09/06 at the Falkirk Stadium from 11am - 3pm on the Main Stand concourse. Six of the leading programme dealers will be in attendance, so get your "wants" list prepared now!

Ironically on the same day our umbrella association Supporters Direct have arranged a meeting of all Scottish Trusts in the Alex Parker Suite at the Falkirk Stadium, starting at noon and finishing around 2.30pm. BairnsTrust will be sending representation. The primary agenda item will be a discussion of the SPL2 proposal and they are asking both the SPL and the SFL to send details of the proposals so that Supporters Direct can pass on their views at the meeting rather than relying solely on media reports. There will also be some time to discuss other issues and give more details on the National Conference in London on Fri 13/10/06. The Club have already given their own informative view in support of the proposal at the meeting at Hampden Park.

At very short notice, BairnsTrust have taken on one of the Cabaret Nights originally planned by Drew Norloch Ltd. Fri 22/09/06 will be the date, 7.30pm till late at the Lodge Hall, Brightons Cross, Maddiston Road, Brightons. Silly Connolly v Randy Roxx, billed as a night of laughs and Glam rock'n'roll mayhem! Tickets are £7.50. Please see members of the Trust at the stall on Saturday or they can also be bought on the night at the venue. If you would be willing to donate a raffle prize, please contact the Trust by either method below to arrange uplift or bring along to the stall on Saturday. We do require our membership to support this event as we take these events around the community to raise the Social aspect of the Trust. They also have the potential to be big fundraisers. Silly Connolly was a raging success at our debut Social Night.

We are again financing the Tom Jamieson Memorial Trophy 5-a-side Tournament involving pupils from Carrongrange School. The event was well appreciated in its inaugural year of 2005. Tom Elliott has still to inform us of a suitable date at the stadium before we proceed. Tom was the guest speaker at our last Monthly meeting and gave a professional talk using the latest presentation aids on all the community activities in place at the club.

You may have noticed the Falkirk Herald is now publishing a weekly article for the BairnsTrust which is greatly appreciated. Watch in the coming weeks for a feature on our Norwegian BairnsTrust member!

We have also signed our first Trinidadian Trust member, who is willing to help us at events. A qualified Accountant, Celeste has offered to "make her debut" at our Pennies Bar Hospitality mentioned above. Come along and meet her and she will regale you with stories from the World Cup having obtained tickets from a certain Densil Theobold!

One of our members is willing to sell his 400 shareholding if any other members are interested in purchasing. Negotiations would have to be undertaken between the seller, buyer and the Club, but the Trust would help establish initial contact.

If any member can advise on the whereabouts of BairnsTrust Member Duncan McPherson, formerly of Newpark Road, St Ninians, Stirling this would be appreciated. He has seemingly moved and not informed the Trust of his new address. We require to contact him urgently. Also require to contact Rod Moore of Rosebank Avenue, Falkirk and John McCreadie formerly Waggon Road, Brightons but may now reside at Rae Street, Stenhousemuir. There are also a couple of others, who despite being contacted at their last known address have failed to reply. If you are one of them again please respond by your preferred contact method below!

The Trust was contacted by "" who offer information, fixtures, local maps and hotel bookings for supporters visiting games against Falkirk Football Club. They have given BairnsTrust exposure under the "information general" link at:

Finally, if you have any topics or articles you wish to be included in future BairnsTrust Electronic Newsletters, please respond by your preferred contact method below.

Look forward to seeing you at the monthly meeting where there will be a chance to win a prize for attendees!
