This is a
special edition of the electronic update of BairnsTrust activities.
If you are reading our newsletter for the first time ... welcome to BairnsTrust as a new member! If regular receivers, welcome back to the new season to our renewed members. If you wish to review some of our previous newsletters they can be visited at the following section of the website ...
The Trust take this opportunity to thank you all for joining for the new season and appreciate all those that made a donation to the contingency fund, too many to mention individually, but very much appreciated. It has been assumed that all under 16s that have joined have done so with full parental/guardian consent.
You are cordially invited to attend the monthly BairnsTrust meeting in the Warm Up Area of the Falkirk Community Stadium on Mon 16/10/06, KO 7.30pm.
Feel free to convene before or after the meeting in the Amarillo Bar Bistro.
There will be a full agenda for discussion, but if you have any concerns you wish to raise, please respond to either email@example.com or post your query on the message board at our website and we will try to cover on the night.
If you are unable to attend, the minutes from the meeting will appear on our website 7-10 days later for your perusal.
The first of our Boardroom Experience winners thoroughly enjoyed his time with the Directors v Aberdeen on Sat 16/09/06. That day we also held the draw for our members to win the £100 club shop voucher. It was made live on the pitch at half-time by former player John Perry, with the winner being R Menzies of Bridge of Allan.
In a further attempt to raise funds for BairnsTrust, we targeted the Celtic fans on Sunday 01/10/06 by raffling a 10 year old Celtic FC signed shirt containing 24 autographs, including one John Hughes! The draw for this also took place at the interval and was made this time by former player Brian "Bomber" Brown who was over on holiday from Australia. An advertising message for their club's Supporter's/Trust websites, match programmes and fanzines was sent to Celtic as well as a message of thanks afterwards for the £155 raised.
The Club, in conjunction with BairnsTrust held a small programme fair on Sun 24/09/06 at the Falkirk Stadium on the Main Stand concourse. Despite the poor weather outside this was fairly well attended. Some of the leading programme dealers were there and had some very rare Falkirk memorabilia available for sale. The Trust had a stall and benefited from an anonymous donor who gave a bundle of over 225 Falkirk programmes from the 70s, 80s and 90s. These were packaged into bargain bundles and nearly all were snapped up on the day. The ONE full set of all FOUR Holland friendly programmes that we had decided to auction to the highest bidder were spotted by a dealer from Almondvale Programmes in Edinburgh and having not seen a full set for sale before promptly offered us a price we could not refuse. The Trust are now willing to take advance orders for Falkirk FC AWAY programmes this season as well as any Scotland home and AWAY programmes. Again please contact the Trust by your preferred method below, allowing sufficient time prematch for collating orders.
On the same day our umbrella association Supporters Direct had arranged a meeting of all Scottish Trusts in the Alex Parker Suite at the Falkirk Stadium. BairnsTrust were represented. There was some time to discuss other issues apart from the main SPL2 and more details were given on the National Conference in London on Fri 13/10/06. A hasty invite was sent to all our fellow Trusts inviting them to pop in to the Programme Fair before or after the meeting, which many took the opportunity to do so.
Attached to this newsletter are various AGM documents for the National Conference to give you an insight into what will featured.
If you cannot access the document the software can be downloaded from the following link. However, Trust members do so at their own risk and BairnsTrust take no responsibility for any difficulties that arise from doing so.
At very short notice, BairnsTrust took on one of the Cabaret Nights originally planned by Drew Norloch Ltd. on Fri 22/09/06 at the Lodge Hall, Brightons Cross, Maddiston Road, Brightons featuring Silly Connolly v Randy Roxx. The entertainment was superb once again and we thank the generosity of those that attended.
The next event is back at the Castings Club, Etna Road, Falkirk on Fri 20/10/06 at 7.30pm with the return of the fabulous Beatles Tribute Act ... Just John and Paul. Ticket prices have been slashed this time to £5 and are now on sale from BairnsTrust Committee Members, the stall on matchdays, The Castings Club and as usual can also be paid on the night.
BairnsTrust Committee met in the Amarillo on Tue 03/10/06 to liaise with the Club's new Sales and Marketing Manager Tony Smith, a fellow FFC fan, who is overseeing the Commercial Department for 6 months, looking to help generate new income streams. He has made an exciting proposition to the Trust and we will work with him to complete the facts and figures before mentioning further!
Regarding the resignation of the current Auditors of BairnsTrust and the matter being discussed at our last monthly meeting, your Committee have been busy trying various routes to seek and appoint another Auditor. This has culminated in an appointment with a local Chartered Accountant who is keen to help out. This was mentioned in passing to our friends in ShireTrust and they are also keen to link up, which should help reduce the fee! The difficulties now encountered by ALL Trusts regarding the Annual Audit is causing some concern and Supporters Direct are now allocating much time and effort into resolving on everyone's behalf and guidance will be given at the National Conference.
Those who requested one of our new, eagerly awaited, BairnsTrust 2006-07 Polo/T-shirt, again the samples have been delayed due to illness at the printers in Manchester but should now be available for viewing at the stall v St Mirren on Sat 14/10/06.
On this date BairnsTrust launches the new Former Players Association. Following our recent advert in the Falkirk Herald, our new Secretary has been busy collating all the details of the ex-players who are very interested in becoming involved. Certainly they will be easily recognised with the first batch now eagerly awaiting this fixture to meet up with the fans and share the hospitality.
The Trust's next community project in conjunction with the Club is the "Show Racism The Red Card" event on Sat 28/10/06 v Dundee Utd. The details are being finalised but will keep you in suspense until you arrive at the Stadium for the match! We are seeking volunteers from our membership to help on this day. Please contact the Trust by your preferred contact method below.
Visit the SRTRC website for the full nationwide plans at www.theredcardscotland.org
Regarding your 2006-07 membership card. The welcome pack has been finalised, but as we were going to print a late opportunity arose to have the cards "sponsored" with the possibility of a range of discounts on production of the card. Although this will delay issuing further the Trust Committee believe it will provide a great benefit to our members when finally received in a few weeks time. The final meeting with the sponsor has been held and you will be receiving the pack soon.
One of our members is still willing to sell his 400 shareholding if any other members are interested in purchasing. Negotiations would have to be undertaken between the seller, buyer and the Club, but the Trust would help establish initial contact.
If any member can advise on the whereabouts of BairnsTrust Member Duncan McPherson, formerly of Newpark Road, St Ninians, Stirling this would be appreciated. He has seemingly moved and not informed the Trust of his new address. We require to contact him urgently. Also require to contact Rod Moore of Rosebank Avenue, Falkirk and John McCreadie formerly Waggon Road, Brightons but may now reside at Rae Street, Stenhousemuir. There are also a couple of others, who despite being contacted at their last known address have failed to reply. If you are one of them again please respond by your preferred contact method below!
The Trust was contacted by Mercat Press Publishers who have produced a new book out entitled "Scotland! Scotland! Complete Who's Who of Players since 1940". More than 470 players have represented Scotland on the football pitch since 1946. This comprehensive book profiles all of them. Each player’s Scotland record is explored in a mini-biography complemented by a full statistical record of every match he played. It includes legendary players like Jim Baxter, ‘Jinky’ Johnstone, Denis Law, Kenny Dalglish and Ally McCoist, as well as the most obscure players who ever played for Scotland and gained only one international cap. A vital collection for every football fan. A 480 page paperback, please visit their site for a great discount by buying online and if you mention BairnsTrust you could be invited to attend the book's launch at Hampden Park!
Finally, if you have any topics or articles you wish to be included in future BairnsTrust Electronic Newsletters, please respond by your preferred contact method below.
Look forward to seeing you at the monthly meeting where there will be a chance to win a prize for attendees!
