This is a special edition of the electronic update of BairnsTrust activities
If you are reading our newsletter for the first time ... welcome to BairnsTrust as a new member! If regular receivers, welcome back to the new season to our renewed members. If you wish to review some of our previous newsletters they can be visited at the following section of the website ...
You will note when you visit our website that it is undergoing reconstruction. Please bear with us as it will be both fully operational and up-to-date soon.
Do feel free to enter our new online competition ... HERE
The Trust take this opportunity to thank you all for joining for the new season and appreciate all those that made a donation to the contingency fund, too many to mention individually, but very much appreciated. It has been assumed that all under 16s that have joined have done so with full parental/guardian consent.
Please note there will be NO monthly meeting in December with the run up to the festive period, but your Committee will be having their meeting as normal.
You are cordially invited to attend the monthly BairnsTrust meeting in the Warm Up Area of the Falkirk Community Stadium on Mon 15/01/07, KO 7.30pm.
Feel free to convene before or after the meeting in the Amarillo Bar Bistro.
There will be a full agenda for discussion, but if you have any concerns you wish to raise, please respond to either HERE or post your query on the message board at our website and we will try to cover it on the night.
If you are unable to attend, the minutes from the meeting will appear on our website 7-10 days later for your perusal.
BairnsTrust are delighted to announce the birth of Stewart and Lorna Wilson's new arrival Ciaran. He made his debut v Rangers on Sun 03/12/06 and has already been promoting the BAIRNstrust at our matchday table. Congratulations to all.
The culmination of the efforts of the BairnsTrust Committee members who were on the Andy Laurie Testimonial Committee saw a bizarre conclusion. A winner of Corporate hospitality at a Falkirk FC Category C game was none other than ... Dunfermline FC Chairman John Yorkston. He has kindly donated the prize to BairnsTrust, recommending that one of our disabled Trust Members take advantage of the offer. The Committee duly made a draw after our last meeting and the winner is J Scobbie, Brightons.
Further dialogue with Supporters Direct in the past month has confirmed our worst fears. An expensive, full annual audit will have to be undertaken as per usual with the potential for next year of the introduction of the new Independent Examination Process.
We have also received the 4-page abbreviated Tax Return for the period ended 30/09/06. Again this was something our previous, now resigned, auditor compiled on our behalf and the onus is now on the Treasurer to also undertake this task.
ALL BairnsTrust members over 16 need to become involved in this topic. As our AGM is due in March 07, in order to have an Independent Examination next year, we need a resolution on the agenda to change the rules to allow us to waive the audit and an actual resolution to waive the audit. Your decision and vote will be required for this to progress and you will be contacted ahead of our AGM.
Subsequently if you wish to review this area further, Supporters Direct have put together a document which details:
- What audits are
- What IE's are
- How you choose an IE
- What the IE does
- How to change the rules
- How to pass the resolution
Independent Examination Guide
If you cannot access the document the software can be downloaded from the following link. However, Trust members do so at their own risk and BairnsTrust take no responsibility for any difficulties that arise from doing so.

BairnsTrust were contacted by Falkirk FC to help undertake a Traffic Survey at the Stadium on Sunday 03/12/06 v Rangers. We hoped to obtain some volunteer help from our membership, but unfortunately this was not forthcoming despite the issue of Car Parking in and around the Stadium being a hot topic in the question and answer session with FFC Managing Director George Craig at the last monthly meeting. Having informed the Club, you may have noticed that the matchday Stewards were drafted in to undertake the survey and we hope the data obtained will prove useful.
Also in the Boardroom at this game we had TWO of our members. Our Norwegian member flew over especially to undertake our much vaunted Boardroom Experience prize and both enjoyed their day immensely. Jostein is employed as an Economic Development Officer in the Northern Region of Hordaland County, Norway and was very interested to hear more about our own "My Future's in Falkirk" on the doorstep of the Falkirk Stadium. We have duly supplied lots of information and contact details on this.
News of Falkirk FC's exploits is now rampaging across Scandinavia and we are pleased to announce the signing of our second Norwegian BairnsTrust member ... Torhild Skramesto.
The draw for the latest round of "Boardroom Experience" winners was made at our meeting of Mon 20/11/06 and the following were selected:
03/12/06 Rangers - J Skramesto, Askeland, Norway and I Scott, Falkirk.
16/12/06 Hibernian - A Fernie, Polmont.
30/12/06 Inverness CT - G Young, Falkirk.
Reserve S Traynor, Falkirk.
2006-07 Membership cards are now available. To cut down on postage we hope new members are able to collect their "welcome pack" from the BairnsTrust stall located on the concourse in the Main Stand at the coming matches. Thereafter the remainder will be posted out. Please allow sufficient time for BairnsTrust to receive and process your application form then to compile and bring to the next available home game your card, before enquiring. It has come to the Trust's attention that Card Number 002 has gone astray. If you have received this by accident in your pack, please feel free to return it to us. The Amarillo have been informed of this rogue card and will not process if presented. Trust members are now entitled to a 10% discount from the cost of meals at the 11 Restaurant in the Falkirk Stadium on Sundays to Thursdays and from 12.00noon until 6.00pm on match days on all a la carte menu items. We are now glad to announce the Amarillo as our second Corporate Sponsor of the season.
The Trust are willing to take advance orders for Falkirk FC AWAY programmes this season as well as any Scotland home and AWAY programmes. At our next home match we hope to have more stock of progs. for sale. Please contact the Trust by your preferred method below, allowing sufficient time prematch for collating orders. We have also asked the club if they would be willing to supply our stall with a small stock of HOME programmes each game to help out the programme sellers, following repeated requests from fans when inside the stadium.
Those who requested one of our new, eagerly awaited, BairnsTrust 2006-07 Polo/T-shirt, again the samples have been delayed due to illness at the printers in Manchester. This has prompted the Trust to now seek an alternative, local source and we are hoping to have stocks soon.
The Trust was contacted by Mercat Press Publishers who have produced a new book out entitled "Scotland! Scotland! Complete Who's Who of Players since 1940". More than 470 players have represented Scotland on the football pitch since 1946. This comprehensive book profiles all of them. Each player’s Scotland record is explored in a mini-biography complemented by a full statistical record of every match he played. It includes legendary players like Jim Baxter, ‘Jinky’ Johnstone, Denis Law, Kenny Dalglish and Ally McCoist, as well as the most obscure players who ever played for Scotland and gained only one international cap. A vital collection for every football fan. A 480 page paperback, please visit their site for a great discount by buying online and if you mention BairnsTrust you could be invited to attend the book's launch at Hampden Park!
Also received recently communication from Football Aid. They were founded in 2000 as a unique way of raising money to find a cure for diabetes and since its conception, over 300 games - involving an incredible 8000 players - have taken place on a UK Club, European and National level. Through Football Aid’s parent charity, Field of Dreams’ multi-beneficiary grant award scheme, funds raised go to Diabetes research, education and management projects and are also shared with charities nominated for funding by the Clubs that take part. They have entered the Scottish Supporters Mini-League with a view to entering the main Scottish Supporters Football League Having recently secured sponsorship from the Gordon Lounge, Thornhill Road, Falkirk have subsequently ordered a complete set of strips, which can be seen below.
A match is booked on the Wed 20/12/06 at Ochilview Park, Stenhousemuir. Free entry to go along and watch with KO at 8pm.
Also holding a fundraising night to try and raise some much needed cash for training equipment, pitch fees, etc, so hopefully see a few of our Members there on Fri 2/02/07 at the Gordon Lounge, KO at 7pm.
One of our most popular Social Night Acts "Silly Connolly" arrived on the weekend of the Motherwell match to help promote BairnsTrust. He was also bearing gifts of his new CD that is not in the shops until March 2007. Lasting nearly an hour and containing 21 sketches and songs the Trust have benefited from the stock we have obtained with all profits going directly to the Trust. Copies at £8 each can be purchased by your preferred contact method below.
BairnsTrust are delighted to announce that in conjunction with Falkirk FC we will become sole agents for the launch of the new 1876 club. This will be a live, public, monthly draw for top prizes in return of a standing order of £10.00 per month. The more members who join the bigger the prizes will become and the Trust will benefit financially as a result. We encourage you to join and application forms will be available at the BairnsTrust stall located on the concourse in the Main Stand at home games.
Finally, if you have any topics or articles you wish to be included in future BairnsTrust Electronic Newsletters, please respond by your preferred contact method below.
Look forward to seeing you at the next monthly meeting where there will be a chance to win a prize for attendees!
From all at BairnsTrust have a Happy Christmas and a good New Year, but always be wary ...
