This is a special edition of the electronic update of BairnsTrust activities.
If you are reading our newsletter for the first time ... welcome to BairnsTrust as a new member! If you wish to review some of our previous newsletters they can be visited at the following section of the website...Newsletter Lists
The Trust take this opportunity to thank you all for joining for the new season and appreciate all those that made a donation to the contingency fund, too many to mention individually, but very much appreciated. It has been assumed that all under 16s that have joined have done so with full parental/guardian consent.
You are cordially invited to attend the monthly BairnsTrust meeting and AGM in the Warm Up Area of the Falkirk Community Stadium on Mon 16/04/07, KO 7.30pm.
There will be a full agenda for discussion that you will have already received with your AGM mailing, but if you have any concerns you wish to raise, please respond to either email@example.com or post your query on the message board at our website and we will try to cover on the night.
If you are unable to attend, the minutes from the meeting will appear on our website 7-10 days later for your perusal.
It has been suggested that these Newsletters be shortened and to prevent IT complications that attachment files be eliminated. Future Newsletters may now simply inform you to visit our website at your convenience for the full version. There have not been a majority of comments for this idea.
The Trust is delighted to intimate the signing of our FIFTH Corporate Sponsor of the season John Mitchell Haulage of Earls Road Industrial Estate, Grangemouth, FK3 8XA. Tel: 01324 486511. Fax: 01324 665116.
John Mitchell started the business in 1956 with one vehicle operating from Grangemouth in Central Scotland.
The business expanded over the years and in 1973, moved to a purpose built 3 acre haulage depot with new offices, workshop and storage facilities at Earls Road in Grangemouth.
Continued growth saw the acquisition of an additional site in Grangemouth in 1990. That is their Thornbridge Depot, a 26 acre site with 150,000 square feet of covered warehousing and storage capacity for over one thousand freight containers.
The haulage fleet also expanded over the years and now stands at around 100 vehicles. The haulage operation is still based at Earls Road and a further seven acres of adjacent land was purchased recently for container storage.
The sectors in which the company currently operate are:
Road Haulage - Specialising in containers, chemicals and timber.

Our new BairnsTrust Public Relations Officer has already been busy. With Falkirk FC idle this weekend, the main article in this week's copy of the Falkirk Herald centred on the BairnsTrust. We thank our friends at Supporters Direct for contributing to the article and the Herald for printing such a detailed account of our work. If you missed it the full piece appears online at the Falkirk Herald's website
The BairnsTrust website is now fully operational and updated.
Information on Meeting Minutes and Newsletters can be found in the relevant sections. We have made many new additions including a games room, the new online shop, ticket sales for our future events and now the facility to pay for all products and membership by "Paypal."
We now have photographs of the current Trust Committee online

the new "Former Players" Section of our site
A new area on the website is the "Charity Appeals" section,

We helped with the selling of tickets and matchday programmes for the Kidney Kids Scotland Charity Match at the Falkirk Stadium on Sun 25/03/07. This game brought the memories back for those attending with the Falkirk FC Select defeating the SPL Select by 4 goals (Colin McDonald 2, Sam McGivern2) to 3 (Graham Harvey, Roddy Grant 2). The Trust has obtained a stock of the teamsheets issued, if any member wishes one.
The Trust now have a stock old Falkirk FC HOME and AWAY programmes from this and previous seasons for sale at £2 each. Also now have some rarely available team sheets and after match stats sheets to compliment these. Please visit the stall for your requirements.
Advance programme orders for the ITALY v SCOTLAND UEFA Euro2008 Qualifying Match at the Stadio San Nicola, Bari on Wed 28/03/07 went well and those that order received a bonus pack containing:

One complete set of match publications has already been hosted on a reputable auction website and at the close of bidding a sum of £45.44 + £4.50 postage = £49.94 was made!
Further incomplete sets are now being similarly sold over the course of the next few weeks.
Please visit our own website programme sales page for more details with a direct link to the auction site … or alternatively see how sales compare at the E-Bay Auction Site …feel free to make a bid
The Trust subsequently received correspondence from an avid collector keen to obtain one of the publications on its own. £10 was received from an individual in Dunfermline who agrees with the principals of Football Trusts and as a gesture bid in excess of the going rate and wishes us well in this fundraising venture.
There was a surplus of the individual ITALY V SCOTLAND programmes obtained from the game. Over 20 of these were subsequently sold at the stall v St Mirren on Sat 31/03/07 and all monies raised went into the Trust coffers.
Falkirk FC has allowed BairnsTrust to become an Official Matchday
Programme vendor using our stall on the concourse in the Main Stand at home games as the point of sale. We will cater for those who wish to buy INSIDE the Stadium prematch and in return the Trust will receive the standard “sellers fee” in return. This is proving a great success so far. This was an idea the Trust had mooted to the Commercial Department and this was also introduced at the opposite end of the concourse and at the temporary stands v St Mirren on Sat 31/03/07.
Those who attended the Inverness match on Sat 07/04/07 and purchased one of their sold out programmes may have spotted an interesting article form the SPL sponsor Bank of Scotland’s Sponsorship Department re their Royal National Institute for the Blind Soccer Sight match commentary scheme. As you will be aware BairnsTrust have been running our own service for nearly THREE seasons now. The Bank of Scotland have acknowledged Falkirk FC’s scheme as best practice and recruited our own commentator, A Watson to act as a guest commentator to Inverness CT at their own version’s debut v Falkirk. The Bank is providing sponsorship funds for any SPL club wishing to implement their own initiative. All budding commentators will receive specialist training from the BBC before getting behind the microphone and with 10 pairs of headsets available to each club the initiative promises to improve the matchday experience for supporters who have sight problems. BairnsTrust have been keen to expand our own service to visiting fans, but with only four headsets the lack of additional equipment has prevented this. Your Trust Treasurer is now in the process of contacting the Bank’s Sponsorship Department to seek funding to replace/expand our own equipment, which is nearing the end of its lifespan.
It was also good to see the new Team Bus in use for the Inverness game.
Members who attended our last monthly meeting on Mon 19/03/07 were
given a brief insight into the history and capabilities of the vehicle.Pure luxury, unsurpassed by any other Scottish club and the majority of English teams as well.
For those who requested one of our BairnsTrust 2006-07 Polo/T-shirts
all have now been collected or posted to our exiled members.
Subsequent enquiries and interest has prompted BairnsTrust to make another small order. This will contain some of the main sizes and a new Limited Edition version available in the “3rd Choice Ice/Powder Blue.” Available for purchase at full retail price at the home game v St Mirren on Mon 23/04/07 and at the remaininghome fixtures.
The design can be viewed online by visiting our Online Shop to see what else we have on offer
We are still taking orders for our new range of framed photos of the Falkirk Stadium Main Stand. Small and medium sized greetings cards are also available. Due to demand we have asked for costings on even bigger A2/A1 prints! The photo used is copyright of our friends at AK Photo Art and all profits go to BairnsTrust. Similarly we can receive orders for the Celtic Park and Ibrox etchings that are marketed by a Trust member who has already taken large orders from Old Firm fans.
Copies of the new Silly Connolly CD are going well. Lasting nearly an hour and containing 21 sketches and songs the Trust have benefited from the stock we have obtained with all profits going directly to the Trust. Copies at £8 each can be purchased by your preferred contact method below.
Trust member Michael White has also given the Trust a stock of his new "Book of FFC Lists" with the Trust receiving a donation from every one sold. Again this is much appreciated. Copies can still be bought at our stall on the concourse in the Main Stand at home games.
The final "Boardroom Experience" winner of the season takes their place at the home game v St Mirren on Mon 23/04/07.
The Tom Jamieson Memorial Trophy 5 a side Tournament involving pupils from Carrongrange School finally took place on Wed 28/03/07
from 10am until noon, at The Falkirk Stadium synthetic pitches. All participants enjoyed the event, received a goody bag courtesy of Falkirk FC and BairnsTrust and medals were also provided. Mrs Jamieson who was treated to lunch in the Amarillo by the Trust has since written to the Trust offering her thanks for a great day appreciated the event. Photos may appear in the Falkirk Herald shortly subject to space.
Items that did not meet the initial reserve price at our highly successful Quiz Night, on Mon 12/02/07 are still available for a generous donation. Included are unique, framed, combined photos of Brockville Park and the Falkirk Stadium, signed 2005/06 Rangers Ball, Celtic Park photo and an autographed etching of one Alistair McCoist.
Enquiries on these items can be made by your preferred contact method
below. If any member has any other pieces of memorabilia that they wish BairnsTrust to benefit from selling in this way again please contact us.
