Newsletter 43

This is a special edition of the electronic update of BairnsTrust activities.

If you are reading our newsletter for the first time ... welcome to BairnsTrust as a new member! If you wish to review some of our previous newsletters they can be visited at the following section of the website...Newsletter Lists

The Trust take this opportunity to thank you all for joining for the new season and appreciate all those that made a donation to the contingency fund, too many to mention individually, but very much appreciated. It has been assumed that all under 16s that have joined have done so with full parental/guardian consent.

Due to the Christmas period the floor decided at the last meeting that there should be NO monthly BairnsTrust meeting on Mon 17/12/07.

You are however cordially invited to attend the monthly BairnsTrust meeting in the Warm Up Area of the Falkirk Community Stadium on Mon 21/01/08, KO 7.30pm.

There will be a full agenda for discussion, but if you have any concerns you wish to raise, please respond to either bairnstrust@hotmail.co.uk or post your query on the message board at our website and we will try to cover on the night.

If you are unable to attend, the minutes from the meeting will appear on our website later for your perusal in the Archives

The highlight of the past month was the Football For All's "Kick Out Bigotry(KOB)" event at the Category A game v Rangers on Sat 24/11/07. In conjunction with BairnsTrust and Falkirk FC Trust volunteers were able to distribute promotional Z-cards and badges with coverage of the whole ground, including the Rangers support. All were eagerly snapped up and the players joined in on the pitch with KOB branded t-shirts.

We were delighted to welcome Cabinet Secretary for Public Health & Wellbeing, Nicola Sturgeon to the stadium that day and your BairnsTrust Chairman and Boardroom Rep showed Nicola around the stadium and explained the Kick Out Bigotry campaign. Nicola was well aware of the efforts and was delighted with Falkirk FC/BairnsTrust's contribution.

Prior to the event, Trust Committee Members handed 1,000 KOB beermats to over 24 local pubs.

The Trust took some photos of the day and these will appear on our website soon. However they were submitted along with a 150-word after event summary. True Hearts Against Bigotry (THAB) and the Motherwell Trust have also given their summaries and these appear on the KOB site

Thanks to our friends at the Falkirk Herald newspaper for advertising this and for Falkirk FC for permitting at such a high profile game.

A follow up article appeared in the Falkirk Matchday programme v Dundee Utd on Sat 08/12/07 as the month of campaigning comes to an end. You still have time to sign the online pledge ...  Click the logo on our website for a direct link for more details. The website features news, views and much more as the Kick-Out Bigotry campaign gathers momentum during the 2007/08 football season. It also includes a Sectarian Incident Notification Form providing fans with the opportunity to record complaints of sectarian behaviour at any level of football.

Read the official Scottish Government document on "Calling Full Time on Sectarianism - A strategy for tackling sectarianism in football" here

BairnsTrust still have a vacancy that requires to be filled on the Committee of the position of Secretary following the resignation of the previous occupant. If you wish to be co-opted to this office-bearer post, please feel free to attend the next Monthly Meeting on Mon 21/11/07 or make your intentions known by e-mail

Falkirk FC will be sending out the club's AGM pack to shareholders early in the New Year. If you gained shares via the BairnsTrust Sharesave scheme you should receive this without a problem as your details will have been recorded accurately.

The club's Company Secretary continues with the unenviable task of a shareholding register cleanup, after years of neglect. This will take some time. BairnsTrust Vice-Chairman will assist by offering Supporter’s Direct advice on the matter and this exercise will ultimately benefit all shareholders who hold a current financial interest in Falkirk Football Club. If you are an FFC Shareholder and are concerned at missing out on AGM documents due to say a change of address, please respond to the Trust by your preferred contact method below and we will contact the Club on your behalf to have it checked out. It would be helpful to quote your Share Certificate number when corresponding.

All members will now have received your membership card. Encourage new members still to receive to save our postage costs and collect in person at the BairnsTrust stall located on the concourse in the Main Stand at the next home game after you submit your application.

Why not come to the stall over the festive period and uplift your free BairnsTrust A4, colour, 2008 calendar. Just bring along your membership card.

Also for our under 16 members you can collect a free "bargain bundle" of old matchday programmes.

Again just bring along your membership card.

Show your 2007/08 BairnsTrust Membership card to our Corporate sponsors and you may get a discount! Only £100 per season for SPL advertising or why not invest in banner space on the home page of our website. Contact BairnsTrust for more details

Mentioning banners, BairnsTrust are now in possession of TWO PVC banners promoting the Trust. They will be displayed at prominent locations at the Falkirk Stadium and are portable for travelling around the country for matches and community events. Currently on show at the Away stand entrances/exits behind the goal attracting TV coverage! The banners were produced for a discounted cost by our friends at Falkirk Signs & Print in return for a Corporate Sponsorship in BairnsTrust. Give them a call for your printing needs.

The Trust are also delighted to announce our 6th Corporate Sponsor of the season with the renewal of Thomas Johnston Quality Butchers Limited who have been delighted with the exposure the Trust provides. Why not pay a visit to their shop in the Cow Wynd for your festive steak pies!

We have introduced another new feature onto our web site. If you have any interesting photos, which are Falkirk Football Club related and you would like share with others, then why not send them to us for inclusion on the Fans Pix page. We must ask that no obscene or inappropriate material be submitted as they will not be accepted. Images must not be copyrighted by anyone other than the individual submitting them and permission granted for BairnsTrust to use accordingly. Based on the success of our framed photo of the main stand at the stadium, the Trust may market any photos if enough interest is intimated in a particular photo. Please submit your electronic artwork

The Trust's own UEFA Champions League Fantasy Football Competition is going well and it was a close finish to the group stages. Now move on to the "Round of last 16" teams. This replaced our score prediction game that used to appear on our messageboard. The BairnsTrust mini-league is up and running. The table will be posted on the message board after every round of games and will hopefully create more interest in our messageboard at the same time. As a result participants receive regular, emailed magazines direct from UEFA.

The resident Falkirk Supporters' Sunday Football Team have been performing well recently. Further details can be found at ... www.bairnfica.co.uk or visit the League's site

The Trust have a stock old Falkirk FC HOME and AWAY programmes from this and previous seasons for sale at £2 each. Also have some rarely available team sheets and after match stats sheets to compliment these. Visit our online shop that has a NEW stock list of all our programmes for browsing.

The programmes for sale at the stall are received by generous donations from numerous persons and are not from hospitality as has been suggested. The Trust gratefully acknowledge donations from the private collections of J Gardiner, P Mosson, C Christie, M Ritchie, D Paterson, A Totten and periodically from stewards, BairnsTrust Members and Committee. These such gestures are much appreciated and provide the Trust with a valuable income stream.

Falkirk FC have allowed BairnsTrust to become an Official Matchday Programme vendor using our stall on the concourse in the Main Stand at home games as the point of sale. We will cater for those who wish to buy INSIDE the Stadium pre-match and in return the Trust will receive the standard “sellers fee” in return. This is proving a great success so far. We urge Members to purchase their copy from the stall to allow the Club to monitor how successful and necessary this point of sale is.

Following on from the above a trial run took place selling the day's programme v Dundee Utd on Sat 08/11/07 at half-time and full-time. This was encouraging and is being reviewed as to whether this should continue. You now know where to come for your copy before, during and after the game!

The Scotland U16 v England U16 Sky Sports Victory Shield International Match on Thu 29/11/07 at the Falkirk Stadium is attracting a lot of interest from Scotland fans for the programme that was produced. An SFA sanctioned publication, it was produced free to hospitality guests only, hence the rarity. BairnsTrust have been raising funds from selling our stocks by online auction.

Also have in our possession the much sought after Scotland v Italy programme from Sat 17/11/07 for sale. Offers?

Signed stocks will be obtained of Michael White's new Volume 4 "History of Falkirk FC book" on the Trust stall for the game v Inverness CT on Wed 26/12/07. If you wish to place an advance order, intimate via our email contact address or  visit either our stall or Online Shop

The Andy Lawrie Testimonial Programme between Falkirk FC and Sunderland FC on the evening of Thu 15/11/07 at the Stadium is still available with all funds still going to the Testimonial Fund. Recollect the match report on the Official Site

Finally, if you have any topics or articles you wish to be included in future BairnsTrust Electronic Newsletters, please respond by your preferred contact method below.

Our colleagues at Supporters Direct are still producing fantastic electronic magazines highlighting the work of our friends in the trust movement. Read the latest issue

On behalf of the BairnsTrust Committee, we would like to wish all our members

A Merry Christmas, great New Year and a Happy Holiday!

Look forward to seeing you at the next monthly meeting where there will be a chance to win a prize for attendees!

Thanks.
