BairnsTrust Monthly Newsletter... For Falkirk Bairns Everywhere!
If you are reading our newsletter for the first time ... welcome to BairnsTrust as a new member. If you wish to review some of our previous newsletters they can be visited at the following section of the website HERE.
You are cordially invited to attend the Monthly Meeting in the Warm Up Area of the Falkirk Community Stadium on Monday 13th July 2009, KO 7.30pm.  Please note this is one week earlier than usual due to the need for a meeting before the first competive game of the season.  There will be a full agenda for discussion, but if you have any concerns you wish to raise, please respond to either BairnsTrust or post your query on the message board at our website and we will try to cover on the night.  If you are unable to attend, the Minutes from the meeting will appear on our website later for your perusal HERE.

New BairnsTrust Board Takes Shape
A few changes have taken place in order to complete the new look BairnsTrust Board for season 2009/10.  This includes the addition of Falkirk FC Chaplain Derek Gunn to the board, who will fill the treasurer role along with assistant treasurer Christopher Paterson.  Existing board member Robert Stirling will move into the Secretary position.
Every member of the BairnsTrust Board would like to extend their best wishes to outgoing treasurer/secretary Peter Jack who has decided to step down from his position.  Peter gave four years excellent service to BairnsTrust, often going above and beyond the call of duty, and will be a big loss to BairnsTrust.

A Message from your new Alternate Director...

"Having recently being elected to the position of Associate Fans Representative, I would like to thank the people who supported me throughout my campaign and those that took the time to vote for me.

It is a privilege to be elected, and I will seek to uphold the values of BairnsTrust. I would also like to reassure all, that I will do everything I can, to raise any issues or answer any questions you may have.

Working along with the committee of BairnsTrust and fellow Fans Representative, Brian Guthrie, I hope to make a difference for all Falkirk supporters.

Thanks again for giving me your vote"

Supporters Direct Conference 2009

The annual supporters direct conference was this year held at Stirling University on Saturday 6th June.  As usual, BairnsTrust sent several representatives to this event, looking to see what other trusts were up to and trying to identify new information and ideas that can benefit BairnsTrust.  The main speakers on the day were William Gaillard, Adviser to the UEFA President; Henry McLeish, Independent Chairperson of the SFA Review; David Wilson, LiviforLife Supporters' Trust and Robin Tatler, Homeless World Cup Foundation.  A great day was had by all who attended and a full report can be viewed on our website HERE.

In the final session of the day, a vote was held to find out the most important issues related to Trusts.  Full results can be viewed HERE.

The Homeless World Cup Foundation have strong links with Supporters Direct and they have organised a five-aside football tournament in Glasgow and Edinburgh on Sunday 19th July.  The application form can be viewed HERE if you are interested in entering a team.

Bus Conveners Meeting

Another successful bus conveners meeting was held on Wednesday 1st July 2009 at Falkirk Stadium.  This was well attended with representatives of most of the major supporters clubs having the opportunity to meet with FFC Managing Director George Craig.  One of the topics being discussed was the formation of a sub-committee of bus conveners.  This would give all members of supporters clubs direct communication to the FFC board through the link up with BairnsTrust.  The proposal is that a new category of BairnsTrust membership is created for supporters clubs. More details to follow soon.

Membership Renewals

It is that time of year again when BairnsTrust memberships are due for renewal.  The membership fee will continue to be only £5.  It is intended to significantly increase our membership this year to give a true reflection of our current representation of Falkirk fans.  We will be going back to basics by fulfilling our key aims as stated in the constitution.
This will include improving communications with fans, the first step being a survey which will be distributed at the start of this season to every Falkirk supporter.  This will give the chance for fans to air their views on the way the Club and BairnsTrust are being run and what changes or improvements can be made.  Therefore, it is important that you renew your membership, to be part of the new setup and have your say on the future of your Club.
You can renew in a number of ways:
1) Complete the application form online HERE.
2) Complete and send back by post, the word version of the application form HERE
3) Visit the BairnsTrust stall on a matchday and complete the 'fastrack form'.

Other News
A new page has been added to the BairnsTrust website called Bairns Abroad.  This gives fans who live outwith Scotland the chance to show their support from wherever they are.  Check it out today and register your interest.  There may also be a new initiative run in conjunction with Falkirk TV to offer a international fans package.  Registered members of Bairns Abroad will be the first to hear of any developments with this.
New Falkirk FC manager Eddie May is keen to speak to fans in his debut season as an SPL manager. A fans roadshow is planned where forums will take place in a number of areas throughout the district.  This will give you the opportunity to ask the new manager any questions you wish.  There are no confirmed dates yet although the first is likely to take place before the end of July.  Watch this space for more details!
