RIP Paul McGrillen & Brian McLaughlin
BairnsTrust was sadden to hear of the death of two former players recently - Paul McGrillen and Brian McLaughlin. Paul was only 37 years old and had a successful career which took him to Motherwell, Airdrie, East Fife, Stirling Albion, Partick Thistle, Clydebank, Stenhousemuir and Stranraer, as well as Falkirk. Paul will always be remembered for his famous goal in the Scottish Cup Semi-Final against Celtic in 1997 which sealed an historic cup final appearance for the Bairns.
Brian was 54 years old and came from Grangemouth. He played a total of 11 games for Falkirk in the mid-eighties. Brian's former teams include Celtic, Ayr United, Motherwell, Hamilton and West Adelaide in Australia. Both players will be sadly missed and all at BairnsTrust pass on our condolences to family and friends at this tragic time.
Share Save Re-Launch
One of the options for members of BairnsTrust is to participate in the ‘Share Save’ scheme, one of the first schemes of its type.
So how does it work?
Members can elect to make regular monthly payments to the Trust in multiples of £11 per month. In return, at the end of the agreed period of time you receive shares in Falkirk FC IN YOUR OWN NAME, subject to your contributions over the term amassing the minimum requirement of 400 shares, the limit set by the club.
At this moment in time, shares are currently set at £1.25 each but as with all such investments the value of shares can go up or down and this is not within the Society’s control.
Shares will be allocated to your account on the basis of the price on the day they are purchased.
This scheme is an additional option for members and is in addition to your normal annual membership fee.
If you would like more information on this scheme please contact email@example.com
First Home Game v Hibs 22/08/09
Fans are reminded that this game is a 12.30pm kick off due to it being live on ESPN. It is also advised that fans arrive slightly earlier than usual as there may be delays due to the new smartcard entry system
The BairnsTrust stall on the concourse will be open as usual for the first home league game of the season on Saturday 22nd August. There will be official Falkirk FC merchandise on sale, back stock of old programmes which you may have missed, unique BairnsTrust merchandise not available anywhere else plus the usual team will be on hand to take your queries or questions.
You can also still browse the existing BairnsTrust merchandise online HERE.
BairnsTrust are currently working on a new partnership with Falkirk Solutions to provide the Trust with extra help on matchdays and give valuable work experience to the participants. Falkirk Solutions is the department of Falkirk FC which teaches the unemployed and helps them to obtain jobs as well as providing football coaching. More details to follow soon.
Got your season ticket yet
It has to be said that Falkirk supporters have done their usual magnificent job in backing their club by purchasing season tickets in such great numbers during these troubled financial times - over 3000 have been sold so far and board members have also added to the budget pot from their own pockets, but now more than at any time in the recent past, especially since the collapse of the Setanta TV deal, Falkirk fans need to dig deep and help the club get season ticket sales up to last seasons level to ensure the club can support Eddie May`s efforts to strengthen the squad prior to the transfer window closing.
We all know "lapsed Bairns" who have simply gotten out of the habit of supporting their team and we also know that many will chose to "pay as they go" now that the Falkirk Stadium has extra capacity - these are the fans we must all target and convince to dig deep and buy a season ticket. So if you are one of the 3000 who have already splashed the cash get out there and try and convince a friend or relation to come on board and buy a season ticket. They don`t even need to pay the cash upfront if a ticket is purchased via the Zebra finance scheme. Zebra pay the club the full season ticket value and the customer can pay up at an average of about £11 a month - its a great deal and if another 4-500 season tickets can be sold Eddie May could add the striker to the squad that so many fans hope he can sign.
Lets support Eddie May - lets do that bit extra to support our club and rally together like only Bairns supporters can do. Our fan loyalty is special, enduring and the envy of many a club - lets prove we can do it again !!

An excellent time was had by all fans who made the trip to Falkirk's first ever competitive european game in Vaduz, Leichtenstein. Despite the result, Falkirk fans were a credit to themselves and to the Club with the away support easily outnumbering the home support. Hopefully we won't have to wait another 133 years for the next one!
